Episode 50: Gift Horse

Gift Horse is the title of the rather personal story I present today.

Our seriously messed up intro reading comes from Brooklynne Michelle of the Mosh Knit podcast. Thank you Brooklynne!

I also have to give a big ol' THANK YOU to author Charles Copeland for sharing my work with a new audience. Too cool!

And finally, just a quick reminder that you can share your own short works of horror with the CLMW audience by sending your story here. I look forward to hearing from you.

As always, comments are welcomed below, and links to stuff you might be interested in are on the right side of the page. Thank you for listening!

Subscribing with iTunes or another podcatcher is the easy way to get each episode of CLMW, but you can also listen to this episode through the player below.

This was a nice story. I know if Mikey died and popped up the next morning, I wouldn't of complained.

I was a little confused at the end but I guess by disturbing her grave, he released her spirit.

A) I was in awe of the story. I once had a story idea a bit like that one but never got to writing it, and now I'm glad because I wouldn't have had such a visual ending to mine. LOL! And I can see why it would be somewhat personal. I'm trying to imagine how I'd deal with telling my son his mother was not coming back...all I can say is I'm glad it's not something I have to go through with and hope never to have to.

B) You know, it never fails to make me happy as a stupid little kid when I head my name mentioned the way you mentioned me at the end of this episode. LOL! I mean it, I almost felt as stupidly proud as the day I first learned to ride my bike without training wheels! ;]

By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned this to you yet but the new station is up and ready to hit the air. My wife and I have partnered with a friend of ours to form our OWN station, where I'll be free to say and do what I want and play any content I so choose. The entire on-air schedule was "built around me and my listeners", so I was told, so I'm definitely going to play more of your work in my shows --- how's an episode every night sound to you? At least until I get caught up to the present. LOL! We'll be going live for Opening Night on the 25th, and we've got a whole new website created specifically for the station, on which I'll post a banner linking to your blog site. I think we've got everything together, so on the 25th, we're off to the races!!!

Be well and keep putting out more awesome material!!! ;]

Charlie

PS: Posted this in MySpace too. LOL!

Ok first, that was a good story, creepy. As usual for you, of course.

Second where were ya last Sunday? Did I miss something? No CLMW, no Whisper Back I had to go a whole two weeks waiting and jonesing, lol. Give us some warning next time will ya? LOL

And thirdly, "Why do you have to mess with the fantasy? We already know about the reality so don't mess with the fantasy." comes from the wonderful 80's flick Wierd Science. I'm a freak for Anthony Michael Hall but don't tell anybody, ok?

Keep em coming and I'll keep readin!

Yes! Thank you, Heather! That is exactly the line I half remembered. And would it be too weird to admit that I've really dug all of Anthony Michael Hall's stuff, too? I mean come on, Vacation, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, SNL... what's not to like?

As for last Sunday, what can I say but "oops, I over-committed." Glad you missed me, though ;-)

This is by best story I heard on your podcast and I heard many. This hit so close to home for me as my wife had two strokes and I almost lost her.
Telling my son was so hard. He was my anchor through these times and his mother beat the odds and is talking, walking and part of our family again. I did not look a "gift hourse," in the mounth.
We were at a pre-halloween school party and parents told scarry stories to win a gift basket. I told yours with tears in my eyes at the end.... we won and my wife Thanks You for the basket.
I gave out your URL to the teachers, so I hope you have new fans like me.
